Sculpture – Project 1
Today was my first day working with Clay to make a sculpture from life.
I had a great time working with the clay, at first it feels a little strange on your hands, but it’s really easy to work into the shapes that you need. I used the handles of plastic spoons as structural supports, especially in the arms the legs and in the back to head section although my sculpture didnt need support as it is laying on the wooden board I felt it was easier to manipulate the limbs as a total piece otherwise the clay tends to move out of shape as you adjust the pitch or angle.
After a short while the clay starts to absorb the moisture from your hands so a cup of water is essential so that I could smooth the sections to give a better impression of the skin, it would just be lumpy otherwise!!
These photos were taken with my “point and shoot” Samsung 8 mega pixel camera, I just adjusted the levels in Photoshop to enhance the contours of the piece.
